The roofs are painted bright red! The 1 1/4'' (3.0 cm) opening allows chickadees, nuthatches, downy woodpeckers, or wrens to settle in and build their nests.
It is recommended to use wood shavings at the bottom of chickadee, nuthatch, and downy woodpecker birdhouses. It is recommended to put one inch of wood shavings at the bottom of each birdhouse. One bag of shavings will be enough for one birdhouse.
