The roofs are painted a vibrant red! The 1 1/4" (3.0 cm) opening allows chickadees, nuthatches, downy woodpeckers, or wrens to nest there.
It is recommended to use wood chips at the bottom of chickadee, nuthatch, and downy woodpecker birdhouses. It is recommended to place an inch of wood chips at the bottom of each birdhouse. One bag of wood shavings will be sufficient for one birdhouse.
