Ecology in Game(s)

“Écologie en jeu(x)” (Ecology in Play) is an activity kit developed through a collaboration between Les Clubs 4-H du Québec and QuébecOiseaux. It was designed to support high schools and youth groups in organizing activities focused on nature and eco-citizenship.

We live in an era where young people everywhere are mobilizing in response to the climate emergency and other environmental issues. However, we have observed that knowledge and a sense of belonging to nature and the biodiversity it contains have eroded over generations. This lack of contact with the natural environment is called nature deficit.

But how can we expect people to actively mobilize to protect and preserve biodiversity if they don't know it? As Jacques Cousteau said: "We protect what we love, and we love what we know." Therefore, we must return to basics: helping young people discover and love nature!

Who is the kit for?

“Écologie en jeu(x)” was initially designed for high school students to help them create a nature club at school. It is also suitable for youth groups (4-H Clubs, scout groups, day camps, etc.) in developing activities focused on discovering nature.

Educators working with primary school-aged children can also use the resources and activities offered in this kit to discuss nature and biodiversity with young people or to enrich outdoor excursions and activities.
