Attracts a variety of birds (Cardinals, Chickadees, Grosbeaks, and Finches) and is an excellent source of energy. Conversely, grackles, sparrows, and starlings generally do not like safflower.
Does not attract squirrels.
Golden safflower has a shell 40% thinner than traditional safflower, making it easier to eat and thus attracting a greater variety of birds than white safflower. It contains 15% more oil, 25% more protein, and provides 30% more energy. Preliminary studies indicate a 2-to-1 preference over white safflower.
