With the publication of this book on the Snowy Owl, Quebec's emblematic bird, the Centre de conservation de la faune ailée is pleased to present to the public the first volume of the AVIFAUNE collection.

Each volume in the AVIFAUNE collection aims to thoroughly cover birds well-known to the general public. Each title will therefore provide answers to all questions one might have about the life and habits of a particular species.

THE AUTHORS:
JEAN PAQUIN has specialized training in print journalism. Passionate about birdwatching, he is one of the founding members of the Club des ornithologues des Bois-Francs. In addition to practicing freelance science journalism, he was editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper Le Point (Alexandria) and a journalist for the weekly newspaper L'Union (Victoriaville). Jean Paquin also served as editor-in-chief of QuébecOiseaux magazine.

NORMAND DAVID has had a long-standing interest in bird observation and study. Former president of the Club des ornithologues du Québec and co-founder of the Association québécoise des groupes d'ornithologues, he has published several books and articles on birds of Quebec. After working as a research officer at the Centre de recherches écologiques de Montréal (University of Montreal), Normand David held the position of general director of the Association québécoise des groupes d'ornithologues.
