This squirrel-resistant suet cage is made entirely of metal with a coating to protect it from rust.
The feeder is not accessible to squirrels or large birds.
It can hold two suet cakes or 2 grain squares.
A metal plate, to be installed at the bottom of the inner cage, is provided to prevent large birds from accessing the suet by clinging underneath the cage.
The holes in the outer cage measure 3.8 cm (1.5") in width and height. The holes in the inner cage measure 1.27 cm (0.5") in width and height.
This cage is effective against gray and black squirrels but not against red squirrels or chipmunks.

Les trous de 4cm laissent passer les écureuils; 3.2 cm serait l'idéal, mais impossible à trouver ! Désolée, ça n'est pas anti-écureuil ! De Nature Expert: Cette cage est anti-écureuils gris et noir. Les écureuils roux et tamias rayés sont plus petits et peuvent entrer dans cette cage.

J’étais rendue à l’étape de laisser tomber les pains de suif pour de bon. Les écureuils et les gros oiseaux noirs comme les quiscales peuvent facilement en passer un en une seule journée sans compter le fait qu’ils font généralement fuir les autres oiseaux. Il y a 2 mois environ, j’ai fait une dernière tentative en achetant cette cage à suif et jusqu’à maintenant, je suis vraiment satisfaite de mon achat. Je ne mets qu’un seul pain de suif à la fois. Je le coupe en deux et place les 2 morceaux dos à dos le plus au centre possible de la cage intérieure car je me suis rendue compte que les quiscales arrivaient quand même à atteindre le gras avec leur long bec. Je n’ai pas mis la plaque de métal au fond de la cage intérieure et par conséquent, les pics mineurs et chevelus ont accès au suif en s’agrippant sous la cage. Les petits oiseaux, eux, entrent dans la cage sans problème. C’est un vif succès.

I was at the stage of giving up on suet for good. Squirrels and large black birds like grackles can go through one in a single day not to mention that they usually scare away other birds. About 2 months ago I made one last attempt buying this suet cage and so far, I am really happy with my purchase. I only put one loaf of suet at a time. I cut it in half and place the 2 pieces back-to-back as centrally as possible in the inner cage because I realized that the grackles still managed to reach the fat with their long beaks. I didn't put the metal plate on the bottom of the inner cage and as a result the hairy, downy woodpeckers have access to the suet by clinging under the cage. The small birds, on the other hand, enter the cage without any problem. It is a resounding success.
