The book has more than 240 pages, showing more than 1,600 illustrated bird species present in Ecuador. It also includes some mammals.

For each species, the following information is included: English name, scientific name, degree of threat, level of endemism, habitat, altitudinal range, distribution map, migration habits, sexual dimorphism, juvenile plumage, distinctive features, etc.
